An international publishing company specializing in the creation of high-quality, illustrated books, and online resources, DK was established in 1974 in London. The company is one of the few global publishers of illustrated non-fiction, with titles published in more than 40 languages.
DK is part of the Penguin Random House Group and has offices in
New York, London, Munich, Toronto, Melbourne, and New Delhi. On 1st July 2013 Penguin and Random House officially united to create Penguin Random House, the world’s first truly global trade book publisher.
Set up in 1998, we at DK India work closely with our UK counterparts to create books that are both visually stunning and factually compelling, both in print and electronic media. The editorial and design teams work hand-in-hand to produce books that range across genres such as history, science, cooking, gardening, lifestyle, sports, children, and travel. Some of the more popular books produced by DK India include Natural History, Needlecraft, Eyewitness Dinosaur, Eyewitness Science, Cook Express, Cook Step-by-Step, Encyclopedia of Plants and Flowers, The Illustrated Bible, The Motorbike Book, DK Eyewitness Travel Guides, Top 10 Travel Guides, and Where to go When, and the Essential Manager Series. The Eyewitness Travel series on the different monuments in India was entirely developed in-house and published locally in 2009-2010 and was later turned into the impressive Great Monuments of India.
The recent years have witnessed an explosion of digital products and applications for such devices. Always the industry leader in novel ideas and innovations, DK has now entered the market of digital applications with much enthusiasm. Collaboration between the UK and Delhi office has already resulted in many of the company’s popular books being converted into a digital format. The applications have been designed to stay true to the DK anthem – informative and practical, yet fun and innovative. The various platforms that support our applications are Amazon’s Kindle, Apple’s iPad and iPhone, Android, and Blackberry, to name a few.
